Cherokee Lake Fishing Report

Lake: Cherokee

Date: March 15, 2014

Weather: Mostly Sunny - 45 Lo/66 Hi

-Launched from 25E at 7:30 and the water temperature on the main lake was 48 degrees. We caught a total of 15 fish, but we didn't catch any quality. Fish were caught on 3 different baits throughout the day; a lipless crankbait, a series 3XD crankbait, and a spinnerbait. We were able to catch our fish by keying in on the back 1/2's of pockets and fishing isolated rock piles. The water clarity and temperature followed a similar pattern from German Creek all the way up to Poor Valley. The main lake by the end of the day was pushing 52-54 degrees and the pockets were hitting 56-57 degrees. Water clarity on the main lake was 1'-2' and the pockets were much more stained with the clarity being 6"-10". Fish seem to be pushing back and staging up just off or near the flats. I feel that the big females are still sitting, suspended, out in a little deeper water. The water level was actually a foot or so below where it was in February, but it is predicted to rise a couple of feet before Saturday and that should help push the fish. I hope this information helps you get a game plan ready for the tournament.

Good luck on Saturday!
